Two weeks had past since Jared first kissed Jenny when he was at her house on their first date and the two shared many kisses after that. Jared was on cloud nine. For the first time in a long time he was happy.
”Do you have any regrets?” he asked still looking at her. “Regrets are mistakes that you don’t learn from.” Jenny stated looking at Jared. They both just sat there in silence staring intently into each others eyes. As Jared stared into Jenny’s green eyes he felt a sense of security and understanding emote from them that he leaned over and kissed her on the lips. It didn’t take long for Jenny to reciprocate.
She opened her mouth so his tongue could enter. Hands started roaming all over each other. Both left trails of kisses on each others neck. “Jared.” Jenny said trying to get his attention but he was long gone. He had been dreaming and fantasying about this for months.
Nothing was going to stop him. “Jared. Hold on a second. Stop, please.” When Jared heard Jenny say stop, he stopped. He was out of breath. She was out of breath. He looked at her. He saw that she covered her face with her hands.
’Is she embarrassed. I hope she doesn’t regret kissing me back. Shit! I came on too strong but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve wanted to feel those lips on mine for so long.’ “What are we doing?” Jenny asked looking at him. “What do you mean?” Jared replied confused. He thought they were kissing. “Look, I’m going to be honest with you Jared. Ever since I met you last November, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you. I would try not to, I really did but I couldn’t.
”When I mentioned to Jessie that I may have feelings for you she said that it would be best if I just ignore them. I couldn’t believe she said that to me so I asked her why. She told me that sometimes you aren’t a good person and that you left girls heartbroken before. Jessie warned me that I’ll probably end up like all the other girls you were with.”
”You won’t. I won’t let that happen.” Jared professed than added, “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you either. I don’t know what it is about you? You are the only girl in a long time that has caught my attention and has managed to keep it.” Jenny raised a hand and touched his hair softly. He closed his eyes. He loved the feeling of her fingers running through his hair. “What do we do now?” she asked. Jared opened his eyes to look at her. “We take it slow.”
Take it slow they did. The two kept quiet about their new relationship from everyone even friends and family. They just wanted to keep this for themselves for the time being and Jared was okay with that. He wanted to keep Jenny to himself for as long as he could and he would protect her for as long as he could from the press and the fans. Jared remembered how hard it was for past girlfriends to deal with jealous fans.
One time the nasty comments got so bad that Jared had to actually talk to the moderators on a message board about prohibiting talk/posts about their girlfriends/fiances/wives. However, he new that wouldn’t stop people from talking about their private lives. ‘We asked for this life but the girls didn’t. Their lives shouldn’t have to speculated and people shouldn’t hate them just cause they are with us. I know Jenny has thick skin but I don’t think I would be able to handle the comments that some of the fans would make about her if they ever found out that I was with someone again. They can’t ever find out. I will still have to play the role of the arrogant asshole so they won’t suspect anything has changed.’
One of the first things Jared did to commemorate his new relationship with Jenny was to make a playlist for her. He always made one to remind himself of the girls he was with. Jared new it was lame but he didn’t care. When he was younger he would spend most of his time up in his room making mix CDs. He considered himself a pro at making them.
As he looked through his Apple TV music list to figure out what songs would be best for Jenny on in this case J he saw the letters M and E. ‘Man, both of those were so long ago. I can’t believe how hung up I was on M. I wanted her so bad but I was just a fling to her. Soon after she was done with me she went back to him. Now they have a baby together. M has got to go. E, nothing really special about her. She was just a good time. Seemed to only like me cause of my celebrity status. Wanted her own rockstar like Lily. E has to go as well. J is what’s important now. J’s different. She gets me. She isn’t using me to get back at anyone or to gain any status.’ To make sure that his playlist for Jenny would be the best that he has ever made, Jared looked back at the times they hung out since that first date.
“Your ninja name is Zukashikute.” Jenny said as she was reading something off of her phone. “My what?” Jared asked confused. The two were at the mall on a Wednesday morning. They figured since that it was early and less crowded that the chances of being seen by someone they new would be slim. “Your ninja name. You’re always saying that your like a ninja.” Jenny joked. “I am a fucking ninja.” claimed Jared and attempted to make a karate move but instead knocked down a display case of lotion. “Real smooth.” Jenny smirked laughing at him.
She bent down and helped him pick up the lotion and put them back on the display case. Normally, Jared would have died of embarrassment right then and there but whenever he was with Jenny he realized that he didn’t have to be cool all the time. He could be relaxed and cut loose. Even a little bit dorky at times. “Alright lets get out of here.” Jared said and took Jenny by the hand and lead her out of Bath and Bodyworks.
”Oh my God, I can finally breath.” he said dramatically. The two just walked around the mall holding hands, talking and laughing. Just having a good time. Whenever one of them wanted to go into a store to look around the other person didn’t complain. “I think they need to change it from Hot Topic to The Twilight Store.” Jenny said as they passed Hot Topic. “You wanna go in?” Jared asked her. “Ewe. No. Why, do you need new Twilight T-shirts?” Jenny teased. Jared giggled, “You caught me. I’m a Twi-Hard.”
Oh, my next girl will be nothing like my ex girl. I made mistakes back then. I’ll never do it again. The sound of The Black Keys “Next Girl” filled Jared’s house. Oh, my next girl. She’ll be nothing like my ex girl. It was a painful death. Now, I got a second chance.
That was how Jared felt. He never thought he would get a second chance at finding someone. He figured that he would be forever alone until he met Jenny. He looked through his Pixies collection to see if any of their songs reminded him of Jenny.
He saw the song title “I’ve Been Waiting For You” and pressed play. I’ve been looking for a woman to save my life. I’ve been waiting for you and you’ve been coming for me for such a long time now, such a long time now. “Yep, that needs to go on there.” Jared said to himself. Soon enough an hour had passed and he only had three songs for J. ‘Damn, why is this so hard? All the others were easy to figure out.’ The third song he found that fit with his playlist was “Just Like Heaven” be The Cure. You. Soft and only. You. Lost and lonely. You. Strange as angels. Dancing in the deepest oceans. Twisting in the water. You’re just like a dream.
Jared was always scared that he would wake up at any moment and realize that everything that had happened in the past two weeks was just a dream. He literally pinched himself everyday just to make sure that it wasn’t. ‘If this is all a dream than I don’t ever want to wake up.’
“How old were you when you lost your virginity? Be honest?” asked Jenny. Jared looked over at her and saw that she was waiting patiently for him to answer. He was over at her house and they were up in her room lying on her bed listening to music. Jenny’s room was small but quaint. She had a collage of cut outs with her favorite artists, bands, song lyrics and quotes on one of her walls.
”I was 17 when I popped my cherry.” he told her and he was being honest. Most people expected him to say 13 or 15. “With who? You don’t mind me asking that do you?” Jared laughed nervously. “It was with my girlfriend at the time. What? Did you think I was going to say it was with some nasty groupie?” “I’m not gonna lie. Yes, I did.” “Well what about you? When did you lose your virginity? Oh my God, your still a virgin aren’t you?”
”No!” Jenny shouted and playfully slapped his arm. “You wish. I was 18. It was with my high school boyfriend. It sucked so bad.” she confessed to him. Jared scooped her into his arms and kissed her on the lips. “I can assure you that when we have sex, it won’t suck.” He went back to kissing her. He opened his mouth so her tongue could enter and meet his.
Jared rolled on top of Jenny and positioned himself between her legs. He was aware of the growing bulge in his pants and so was Jenny. She slid her hands down his back until they reached his bum which she gave a squeeze and thrust her hips into his. The movement of their hips had turned into a steady rocking and Jenny shifted so Jared’s erection pushed the seam of her jeans against her crotch. He pushed harder and she moaned into his ear, “Yes.” Jared raised himself up on both elbows and rested his forehead on hers.
Their breathing matched on another and kept rhythm with the rocking. Jenny’s hands went from his bum to the skin beneath his shirt and stroked his toned stomach. He grunted and started thrusting against her harder. He kissed her. She kissed him back. Both licking and sucking on each others lips. “Oh my God, we need to stop.” Jenny groaned. Jared at first didn’t hear her. He was so close. He was almost at that point.
”Its okay.” he reassured her. “My pants. I’m going to come in them.” she sounded embarrassed as well as aroused. “Well, so am I.” She let him go back to his thrusting. He used on of his hands to go underneath her shirt and traced her stomach to her breast where he gave it a nice squeeze.
He was close. So close. He couldn’t wait for her to get there. It had been a long time since he had been in this position with a woman. With two more final thrusts Jared shut his eyes tight and let out a husky moan. While trying to catch his breath he rested his head on Jenny’s chest. She played with his hair. He was so relaxed. He wanted to stay in this position forever.
‘What song was playing when I was dry-humping her? Jenny said it was one of her favorite bands. What was it. The Chills, The Gills, no wait The Thrills. That’s it. I think the song was This Year.’ He searched for the song he was looking for and pushed play when he found it. I’m gonna put my heart on the line cause I know this year could be our year. Jenny loved The Thrills. She made him promise that he would check them out and he had to give her credit for liking a pretty decent band.
’They were good.’ he thought. That was one of his favorite things to do with Jenny, besides making out and touching each other inappropriately was talk about music. He took her to see The Walkmen perform at a bar in Nashville one night and she seemed to have had a good time. However, when there was an artist or band that Jenny wanted to take Jared to see he would put up more of a fight.
”I went and saw that walkman band why can’t you come with me and see Patty Griffin. I know that you will like her.” Jenny said to him over the phone. “First of all, there called The Walkmen and I thought you liked them. You looked like you were having a good time when I took you to see them.” Jared replied. “They were alright. Nothing special.”
”Nothing special? There awesome.” he argued. “Why won’t you come with me to see…” “I don’t like country music Jen. Never have never will.” Jared interrupted her. “Patty Griffin is not a country artist. She is a singer-songwriter. She does mostly folk music and she’s awesome. How can you not like country music when your from Tennessee?” “I just hate it alright.”
”What about Patsy Cline, do you hate her?” Jenny asked. “Well, no I don’t hate Patsy Cline…” “What about Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Sr., Waylon Jennings, Kitty Wells, Kris Kristofferson do you hate them as well?” Jared could hear a little anger in Jenny’s voice. ‘Mental note. Don’t diss country music in front Jenny ever again.’ he told to himself. “Alright! Alright, I get you. No, I don’t hate those people. I just hate how country music is so pop now a days.”
When your day is through, and so is your temper, You know what to do, I’m gonna always be there. When In Rome’s “The Promise” was blasting through the speakers as Jared was playing pool. Jenny mentioned to him that was one of her favorite songs. If he loved talking about music with Jenny then his next favorite thing was arguing about music with her. He felt she actually new what she was talking about and boy did she have a temper. He loved it. He enjoyed watching her try to keep calm but when she couldn’t hold it anymore she would let loose and give it to him when he told her that he didn’t really like to connect with the audience at concerts.
”How can you not connect with them? What do you do? Just stand there?” Jenny asked him. They were at the Whiskey Kitchen for one of their dates and the subject of live performing was brought up. “I go into my own world. I connect with some of the people in the audience but I try not to.” Jared tried to explain but new that sounded bad. He didn’t know why he stopped trying to connect with the audience at concerts. ‘My heart is just not in it, I guess.’ “Come here.” she grabbed him the neck and placed a chaste kiss on his lips. “You are a strange man Jared Followill.”
If you fall asleep down by the water, Baby I’ll carry you, all the way home. As Jared was listening to The Drums “Down By The Water” he came to the realization that Jenny was one of the very few people he would do anything for. That no matter what he would always be there for her whenever she needed him. He just hoped that she would do the same for him.
